Where Can I Take the English Test for Canadian Citizenship in Kitchener-Waterloo?

Wondering where you can take your English test for Canadian citizenship in Kitchener-Waterloo? You’ve come to the right place. In this article, we’ll show you how to register for an English test for Canadian citizenship with Pathways. Additionally, we’ll provide tips for preparing for your CELPIP test and how the process works.

What is the English Test for Canadian Citizenship?

The English test for Canadian citizenship is formally known as the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) test. It tests a non-Canadian’s ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. The Government of Canada uses a non-Canadian’s CELPIP score to determine whether their understanding of English is good enough to be a citizen. If other proof of English proficiency is available, the Government of Canada will use that instead.

What Score Do I Need to Pass the English Test for Canadian Citizenship?

Your English speaking, listening, reading, and writing, must score a minimum of 7 out of 12 for citizenship. Your score is based on The Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) system, which gives you a proficiency level between CLB 1 (lowest) and CLB 12 (highest).

Each section (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) of the CELPIP test are graded separately. Test-takers should receive their CELPIP/CLB score within 3 to 4 business days.
